The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has forecasted that average global temperatures would rise between 1.1% to 6.4% by 2100- a buzzer that was previously ignored in the name of ‘growth.’ The recent global climate changes have finally driven the countries across the world to act fast.

A few years ago, 1998 to be precise, Dr Jannie Tay had already initiated work on reforesting the planet with the help of governments and corporations working together. By then, her plant Tissue Culture and biotechnology lab in China had developed the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for faster-growing trees. It is at this point of time that Dr Jannie Tay in joint venture with the Chinese government began reforestation in China.

Today she is extending this model – SuperGrow Plantation all over the world – inviting government bodies to donate land and benefit from spreading ‘quick forest’. SuperGrow Plantation will grow fast growing trees (Teak/Eucalyptus/Acacia) which will be logged and replanted every ten years to grow more trees. This scalable, sustainable and national level model aims at making farmers the immediate beneficiaries through sustainable employment.
